I have never blogged before so please forgive me for the time being, I just started my blog 01/19/09. I really am using this blog for the purpose to meet others for support, encouragement, and tips while on a weight loss journey. Other personal stuff will fill the pages I am sure because I have too much fun and enjoy life too much not to include any of it on here.melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.comBlogger38125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-58708189114126864522009-04-09T08:02:00.003-05:002009-04-09T08:14:44.100-05:00box makeover<div><div><div><div>Since my hubby did a great job on the shelves in my closet, I now needed some cute storage boxes. I had one that I bought a log time ago and paid 25 dollars for but I really didn't want to spend 50 dollars on some boxes. As I was loading some paper in the copy machine at work yesterday it hit me...I could use the boxes the paper comes in and cover them with pretty fabric for storage. Here they are! I think they came out great. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322678566469992754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioXEM189OT88-ZPME2BTFDM6g8V8USTPV2J4N601RQuWBG4NBnUR2wYKIVUDFibzgUdQDJnPuxuqgqL87EXfe4pzrD25E2HAq-fgRXGXK70ZHK5GmDMeFk9k8fiHiEIodrZHlbWs62AOI/s400/P4080002.JPG" border="0" /></div></div></div></div><br />Isn't this fabric great. Today seems like a good day to post about progress since it is weigh in day and all. I lost one more pound. I have become happy enough with that through out the day. This morning I was a little disappointed because I wanted to see more of a loss. But I am happy that I lost a pound. It is progress in the right direction. Also, I think that this week will be a good week. I think that the slowness over the last few weeks is due to teetering on the edge of dropping a point for my daily point values. Today's pound has dropped me down a point. If I get to where I feel stuck again I may go ahead and drop a point before it actually shows I have to on Weight Watchers online. I remember this tip from my days of attending the meetings. </div><br /><br /><div>The other progress I wanted to share was the progress on the deck. Ryan is doing such a good job. It is looking great. He was a little frustrated that the beautiful day we had Saturday (72 and sunny) was half spent on buying a loading up the supplies and bringing them home and unloading. He actually spent ALL day (I mean ALL day Sunday from 8:30am til 7pm only breaking for lunch I made for him) working on the deck. It was so cold (only 41) and WINDY Sunday. So here is the progress so far. I won't post again on the deck until it is finished so that I have a good before and after picture. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321643333608817714" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTOC5sRAukHXHommtqZME9MgBgYG4KC8iOhAPbX2RE2KccOppbfqlemXfhU7oEO_hyphenhypheniX6eSGRIiIOGPGQ_OSC6voSXJ4x9T1-spxljqwFmq52Cqte8-N9R1YqjeBrnk-0VGujPWkAdcr8/s400/P4060045.JPG" border="0" /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321643342540656194" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8yrr-mcUKGiOsnVNJ5hWPLLPezoc2ZtBZMx4EVGXPSeO3hMYTW8Tu0qqgV6BrgXM0d2xUXafB31Ww8E9e_RaKCedME1BmiBquZQE6DnmGHzc0HtjxRHE8cjA-Ge2A5dI1lrDwJtU10FQ/s400/P4060044.JPG" border="0" /> <div></div><div></div><div>My favorite part of the new deck is that I get to go shopping for new deck furniture and planters. :)</div></div>melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-12378129641153689482009-04-03T12:08:00.002-05:002009-04-03T12:26:39.051-05:00Yummy recipeDespite a migraine yesterday. We hosted a dinner "party". It was my husband's uncle's bday and we had them over for dinner last night. The menu was grilled steak (not for me YUCK! I am not a huge meat eater and I don't like steak at all. I have been called crazy.), salad, rolls, mashed potato bake, and for dessert earthquake cake. Now you are probably thinking the yummy recipe that I am going to share with you is the earthquake cake, but it's not, its the mashed potato bake. It is the first time I made it and it was out of this world. My mother in law and Ryan's aunt both want the recipe. Here is the recipe courtesy of Paula Deen's cookbook The Lady and Sons Too:<br />5 cups water<br />4 cups frozen hash brown potatoes (not the shredded kind)<br />One 7.6 ounce package of Betty Crocker Butter and Herb Mashed potatoes mix<br />1 stick butter<br />4 ounces of cream cheese<br />1 cup cheddar cheese<br />1/2 cup sour cream<br />1/2 teaspoon garlic salt<br />1/2 teaspoon salt<br />1/2 teaspoon pepper<br />french-fried onions<br />Preheat the oven to 350. Bring the water to a boil, add the hash browns, and cook for 5 min; drain. Prepare the mashed potato mix according to package directions. Soften the butter the cream cheese together in the microwave. In a large bowl, mix together the hash browns, mashed potatoes, butter and cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sour cream, garlic salt, salt, pepper. Place in a greased 2 quart casserole. Bake for 25-35 min or until golden on top. Sprinkle the onion over the top and bake for about 5 to 8 mins or until onions are golden brown. <br /><br />Makes 8 servings.<br /><br />I typed it into weight watchers online and it is 6 points per serving. So YUMMY. <br /><br />My sister is coming up tomorrow with two of her students to go shopping up here. I am excited to see my sister (I always am) but the most exciting part is that while she takes her two students shopping I get to watch my niece. It is the first time that Aunt Lissa and Kaylee bug have ever gotten to spend time just the two of us. I am so excited and have so much fun planned for us!melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-51185943023532417862009-04-02T07:44:00.003-05:002009-04-02T08:08:38.748-05:00My first Award!Lisa from <a href="http://typicaldaytoday.blogspot.com/">Another Day Today</a> bestowed this award on me. I say we but really it is just my hubby that has begun the project right now. I will be helping once the wood is purchased this week or whenever Ryan is ready for me to help. I tend to stay out of his way when he does a project, a lesson learned many years ago :). I think our deck will look amazing when we are done. It should be done by the end of April. We have had to special order some of the wood and the new posts. </div><br /><div>When we moved into our house the only deck we had was this part. This part will soon be changed. We are removing most of the front of it and opening it completely up and adding stairs into that lead into the backyard.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319420914693512770" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 327px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEif_kRiTZ7fsfedWwHQG3p_ZbpgbCIBiG1zC7upoXv92I7d3YN-tcawWyeW16rjBq080jw8_Tw7CVEyrpePYKiigdkeKJ5Z03kMIk9W5SQIVhWARRrA0fk08THm7rtjANUsVq6Z2E_Jkns/s400/P3310001_edited-1.jpg" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>Ryan added the part of the deck on the right within the first month that we lived in the house. </div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319420918999736386" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvLpNjMwIBkggrO9n4KYq9dFtcg_T2fv1IiS1Wu3Wdl6bOF3KfzXb4A7q5C8Q_y4MWUH1irANz3JEYjw4BTienrhFBGQr3xmxRyHd6_yc_GM44AmMFyWVGxJiWQ_WT_9VbT-aA0jh4wwU/s400/P3310002.JPG" border="0" />Here is the work he did late Sunday afternoon. So, a loss of 3 has put a nice smile on my face today. :)</div><div></div><br /><div>I did enjoy my time off work. It was such a needed break but I picked the crappiest of spring days to take off. It rained both Thursday and Friday then it snowed...that's right SNOWED...Saturday. YUCK!!! I want and need warm weather now!!! I did get out a little on Friday during the break in the rain and took some pictures at a tiny park in Cave Springs. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319047652150849426" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP6J4uPDAQQAlljSTPJLmVH7H96ErNgx9cCk72AIG4zDuy9NoAYM5nodNIWuc0Xd9XGr1O8y9OEhD8whAbhW5hsrMzKmbhPNrzWIcVs57t09MdIAVdZ2zb92GPhWHNZFUB33WbhTxzEvw/s400/P3270005.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319047666715472242" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhgs2MMBf4foQUscqGVEt9yxEjFYbW898EKgMUjv-E0pI-NJD07hz0fU1G9h5FDbniiTIuM2JWlFaH1ce8FnsMEVwAdulb-puN5gZ6Wvcdsqlw_VwA_8RkhGsawXFv2Wknoi20gNqmW_Y/s400/P3270014.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319047658882806002" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjccbqt9xbiLqQaARD3YkiitPO_Z3iN3kQtPRUNl_ZJIqRYd2gH1wJ0nkQENZwYbDWm-ifoJ_v4JI09Agxilonl0Bqqqu0Z44SeYVWTgEpLiF8eFvcsh_UQ8fNTex45C2dipTcI6z1vlH0/s400/P3270012.JPG" border="0" />As I wrote on my last entry my bro-in-law and 5 of his friends were supposed to come up to stay the night Friday and skydive Saturday. 5 actually turned into 12! They were a great group of people though. All of them were very nice. Well, since it snowed Saturday, skydiving was canceled and they decided to stay another night and try skydiving on Sunday. Sunday turned out perfect (cold but sunny) for them and they were able to jump Sunday. This is a pic of some of the group:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319049867093418962" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3NwbyH-ya6wVk0Z1FxCR9ZaxyTiPoQvHnP1fLYz1hISifCCOFte3hImMEjJAvjkWl8WSCa8W01Ir8TSi1C5fdGLsjM9TfXnX9SW-IYiSig621Q9Zb3BKTKUxhNs8fclLBoDpbkuFv2ss/s400/P3290025.JPG" border="0" /> <div></div><div>Here is my bro in law, Cole, suited up:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319049873115894306" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqgf6A_ewsmev-E4yXHSXdTc4gESKdXNFag6ljCvbiBzj_XM3SH0H-etSafcJWJXPLjio7giTJh0m2C7vd1lZ7vuyQliYwJD1WUtCP6NYju2LyolmyRApJSW0WfYAgxNy8pS4sc-xS_EU/s400/P3290040.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>Here is a shot of him floating back to safety:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319049877795488930" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8t7nxftFftRW0L0n51KGTZ9Lm4JXA-t-WmdoIobsHqfUJ12FHc_A6NQ-Ton23sJSISnFh5_kf70T0_bQYM0BBpHvd1DXgn2Ow-1SVtbGo1hS2JpI_s-Lrk_rLDboKkCFM_G9ooAG7iEs/s400/P3290058.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>Here are him and his trainer after the jump:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319049881970108978" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdxnljBDfg_rvPABtyz6rZcfddQYYfoyC7nIlT_ufcd-JFviCi3zqnQ1p3E1R_7yAbqa8b5KFjxc5s3vW9lXmJtyLwUKXWpoNt6b_d7kEkW1Wi9BI0fAiLkvMa_NhTsSUUjteUPlnh_KM/s400/P3290067.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>And here are him and his friend that jumped with him post jump (Cole is on the right):<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319049886790393858" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwiLhwavbHwCPjcEx0aXa8GK5ek5OYRFBRQEQ8Hb8kohofMy3t0dK1owJ1lZccrAge59-9qgbwK2ZjNb0HbO3HeSkNSwefAO2PZBkP-FmperhuT1bf0yWAwGobCIVFrFFoMxJ4YSfl-Bg/s400/P3290070.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>They said it was totally amazing. I took off work today and tomorrow. I was all looking forward to just relaxing and hanging out this weekend but within an hour it has turned out that I will have a crazy weekend. Today, I plan to SCRUB the house from top to bottom; sometimes I just get in the mood to do this and I am going to do it right after I type this. Tomorrow if it is nice (which it appears to be a slim chance of that) I am going to go to a local public garden to take pictures and browse our downtown square at some new shops down there. Here is where it turns crazy; my husband informed me yesterday that my father in law is staying with us Friday night. Then within an hour of that my little bro in law calls and ask if him and some of his buddy's can stay with us Friday night and Saturday night. They are driving up here to go skydiving...SKYDIVING!!! Sounds fun but waaaay to scary for me! So Saturday we are going to watch them jump (oh, and my sis in law is jumping with them too). It will be nice seeing all of them and hanging out. I am sure I will be posting pictures of the brave skydivers Sunday. I just pray all goes well for them!</div><br /><br /><div>I bought a cake and cupcake recipe book at the store the other day and they had these cute cupcake cups and I was like where did they get these and then on one of the pages in the tips section it gave the website. There are a TON of things on this website for baking and decorating. Here are just a few pictures I copied from their website to show some of the stuff they have. Too cute!</div><div>These are cupcake holders that look like Easter baskets:</div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5317492306624828546" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 250px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 250px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6R4a21R8hQwrKOrTQGuDElsxdosagwxYe4kjAnKp8NbusqS_WtSQu5hF7s8-B-lRox1stXnUguD6sGCKZxSxxo2TkopA8mBU3Jn1hFzelq0CR_DQ2F5osJO43OemSzXZxYj74r6yWnxM/s400/cupcake+wrapper+2.jpg" border="0" /></div></div></div><br /><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>This is another example of a cupcake holder:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5317492301523485058" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 382px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 382px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_W6UQkha6zwolHsd6vuA9rOt95nGu1moG1MtW1F9IiFV6zh-p4oqkGFqfK5TqKB2ib7eAIHC7K0uh9sY_WAySOZNLysMTFI1CXK2rDmvSoh3BQ0SX6OZO6uS5wYy9_gK_sYpwUVfaJgI/s400/cupcake+wrapper+1.jpg" border="0" />These are an example of cookie stencils:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5317492296504270562" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 266px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTZd5GmgykBeXmMlWlwRwtg8l37E0-3PIOEAdZMmCVXl8ozH8adAgeCgucDkFdzVigHmkG1LpZoIx911oTQpM_TzY_qg6Y1haLUPh_NjKgysKMVXiVHar1guCBLDMMnY9fL41IOvzXUhU/s400/cookies.jpg" border="0" />There is so much more that you just need to check out for yourself. My mom and dad came up on Saturday and stayed the night. :) :) :) I think I needed a mom and dad fix!! My mom and I went to<a href="http://shopssd.com/classes.shtml"> SSD</a> and I treated her to a card making class. The cards were designed by Bettie and she also taught the class. Here are a lot of pictures of the different cards we made:</div></div><div><div>This first card is made to look like a purse. How cute:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316884996400575762" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuKFFsqoNTyoAD003k-yixyMycs3YA8AKSyG3SSuaFJJZZn9hqwjdAMyEGH1i54B1YE65W9_sfonTVWwI4Tvw8FeKls-t2Bdj78kuYp3CWL8w4Mwa4xUY88Hm5wxP-BDHgnf9bR7n_7V8/s400/P3240001.JPG" border="0" /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316885002464680562" style="DISPLAY: block; No good news here. I stayed the same this week. It wasn't totally unexpected but that doesn't change the fact it is still disappointing. I know what I need to do to change the lack of weight loss from this week and I WILL be reporting a loss next Monday ;)!!</div><div><br />I am a little late posting my new closet transformation but I guess it is better late than never. Now, the pictures do not give my closet justice. It is actually a large closet and wraps completely around our shower to the other side (which belongs to my hubby). Ryan is great to me. I told him I wanted shelves built and he said okay. Well a couple weeks went by and then I was looking at closets on better homes and gardens and drew out how I wanted mine. I told Ryan that I had drawn some plans for my closet and he said "well get me your blueprints and I will build it." He had it done for me in two days. So, here it is:</div><div>Before pics (the thought crossed my mind not to show my embarassing mess of a closet as it was before):<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316456494187920418" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHoQ2-X9UEteMaMX9ova2yJlyyzsZ1spwppf27LaXlhoHzqETj-EbCGT1NDoLRmYTazEY3czLsojiZr50VoHj9adj_r0xVP1FNaYwUoG5-7eHCqZQFelXo9W_jOVC50XzW9kFsEu4pdMI/s400/P3140018.JPG" border="0" /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316456506830156018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4DGmieyS2rdX2197hA4kp7a6MSJciO2ZI79f22Po2r249KQ_SXR3PrUD9lMMQIxH6ZAVXm-sbapmrsXzQYhfDZexZWuAs3FQ4NryenoGna4FDxMs9YYdaMArntls8PBb1bOPdQ8yTDRA/s400/P3160022.JPG" border="0" />After (I even have room to spare now) :) THANKS HUBBY, YOUR GREAT!!!<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316456521937196626" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbZpLkVERlaW6DpWM8sQrwdah16wwI_Rth1mmhD_-HYXdcNG2FTL9gIwZS8UR6dxhDKdyGHYXZ-694qs7d3CHadjDWp_HSFkjIWt1rq6xttPogQeSKEaJyXLs1JDZTK7JlAdsh-6DcjNg/s400/P3230025.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316456525379839154" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD1gwvTtp3y-l63g1AUdQVXtm2xAMm1_j-jxvsnoGiotrJ-pNVKo4hDaJZsCqMBotGOWjWRugiR37fSk8PA2IKut3Soe51cmhnt2yZC6FPBq0FqwMLhycnPbv2gep4SJViUD4DoeAPVDI/s400/P3230026.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br />I am ready for the grass to be green. I just haven't been able to get into any other book since then. I told my sister that reading the Twilight series may have ruined me from ever reading another book again. But I finally did it. The book I read was called Hunger Games. For an excerpt click <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Hunger-Games-Suzanne-Collins/dp/0439023483">here</a>. It was a really good book the only part that sucks is I have to wait until September for book 2. It was good enough that I finished it in two days. However, my longing to read more about Edward is still there. Oh how I hope Stephenie Meyer decides to finish Midnight Sun. I found out about the Hunger Games from Stephenie's website as a recommend read by her.<br /><br />We have been having amazing weather here and I have been able to workout outside again so that has been fun and Ginger (my pup) loves it too because she gets to go with me. So far so good staying on plan this week. Oh and my awesome hubby got my project done and I will post about it tomorrow. So excited.melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-36699946347327174482009-03-16T11:45:00.003-05:002009-03-16T12:16:58.289-05:00A much needed break and weigh in...There are times when I need a break even from things I love to do. This past week was one of those times. I took a break from my computer (I hadn't touched it until now since Tuesday) and I took a break from working out (I got back to working out on Saturday but hadn't in about a week and a half) those are both two things I enjoy but just needed a break. If I could have taken a break from work last week I would have done that too!!! I will be taking some mini breaks from work soon though. <div><div></div><br /><br /><div>This weekend was a sad one for us. My mother-in-law had to put her dog to sleep on Saturday morning. What a hard decision to have to make but she did what she felt best for Mena. So today I include a poem in memory of a beloved friend:</div><div> </div><div>Goodbye With heavy hearts; and a tear in our eyes </div><div>after all these years; we must say goodbye</div><div>Please understand; we've done all we could</div><div>if there was anything we could do; you know we would</div><div>I'm sitting right here; gently rub your ears</div><div>while I talk to you softly; trying to hold back the tears</div><div>The memories you gave us; we'll never forget</div><div>especially the ones; of the day we all met</div><div>One last hug; and one last kiss</div><div>you have no idea; how much you'll be missed</div><div>To look into your eyes; this one last time</div><div>you tell me it's ok; you know it's your time</div><div>Close your eyes now; and go to sleep</div><div>we'll pray to the Lord; your soul he'll keep</div><div>Go in peace now; our good friend</div><div>we'll stay right here with you; until the end</div><div>Dream of that special day and time</div><div>when we'll meet at the Bridge; and all will be fine</div><div>We'll run and play; side by side</div><div>with a soft warm feeling; deep down inside</div><div>Your memory will live on; in each one of us</div><div>you'll always be number 1; to all of us</div><div>Have a safe journey; through the night</div><div>I promise when you awake; you'll be in God's light</div><div>So with heavy hearts; and tears in our eyes</div><div>just for now my friend; we say goodbye</div><div>~John Quealy </div><div></div><br /><br /><div>On a lighter note; I bought and hung up this sign in our laundry room. I was originally going to paint the room the green color of the lettering but I didn't buy the sign the first time I saw it hoping it would go on sale. When I went back it was gone and I couldn't find it for months. Then this week I went back to Hobby Lobby and there it was and it still matched!<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313833095616180690" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUxkB1PLpJ2Dsv1BkrsTIHjr3cT97Oxq4lKqCDa7_2gLWwTbDFciIKvDo83MdVptMiQZ-A4SdZOkUIkCJyqbzV-NBuaksnbfenTitwuI6HLcmToW9GciF82YCJaH2fRTW-J-oDVOCxm7w/s400/P3140012.JPG" border="0" /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313833104272342850" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMHprRLVhUnmKEq0udOPTa-x9cUtjQCi8KADU8T8qS4-KQRaPz_LAxtloilYAJk8WTQ3r3v68weLl4waOHWJ1nJFDrXZ1_CrvQa5Uf6KQ1sIpEaZI-G7iuySl6rK7Hg9CQnxKDX8vLwsw/s400/P3140015.JPG" border="0" /> <div></div><br /><div>Also, today is weigh in day. Saturday when we got home from our ride I noticed that our globe willow tree in the front yard had buds on it. It happened like overnight! Here is a picture of the globe willow I took yesterday. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311688011708760994" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifcnBFuHOa0e63ZSujJCKT0cHmaaGNuZBNfCFjo89EzcMB6Yv4GPHEKPkBK33xv_ZqBeDwdGbRyCl7hzFw7j04h3z4vRI6E7BC1BCxaj2KlwqQAhV70yCDd2wRnuU_NBkcY9aX20XxXPg/s400/P3100006.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>Also, I took a picture of the buds on our Bradford pear tree yesterday.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311688007447850722" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7DVp0p8Io12DTHjhA8wO92qh0TDmg0ld-IlmwshZpS-vGu0hhSl70FnZ0e7VZ2BGFCyi-Wc7sWAuJRCUhR7KLyn-jGrFH_RRKFKsU_OBJMNVDtniE-kqdatSdXNBGC1JMzkWFtZb-0t4/s400/P3090002.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>And can you believe that today there are flowers on it.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311688014433672082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj66zvaYSZb3Vsm2KB1RrVt41Yj_gD9Y3rd_hhzQeyVdRf6aOKW8_f5g3DUsHXprDFuYpgD_dTdV1MPZwOMCQBBUxPOqfu7EoSdMYxgkxSFEC8TyDbhGZUp6-kVzNDOW3r2lxv-PLeK0N4/s400/P3100008.JPG" border="0" /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311688007327872626" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwlhxWoPtYaesBkEpBHwSYIMW9BkSFB-sqRF52YGgFcF7OioPx91pNUyKkvwGRAgcvRWnUP83-eZ3140qP72Ng071NmAEq5IPNNUcTeOIAiECxD45gZaAGUSOl6mDAxGYAiUhkI9lecHc/s400/P3100009.JPG" border="0" />I love Bradford pear trees. They are perfect to me. They have beautiful white flowers in the spring, pretty dark green leaves in the summer, and are the perfect shape. If we had a long driveway I would love to alternate a Bradford pear and a cherry blossom tree all the way up the drive and on both sides. There is a house here that has Bradford pears along the drive on both sides and it is so pretty.<br /><br /><div></div><div>I also put out some Easter decor. Just enough to let you know Easter is coming. I got this bunny and tree at Hobby Lobby this past week.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311686084902636258" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3jaI2YB0__dQPUhwtCaZOR24SQ2U1rh7KSF6F7MlQAQz3hcOzxak6k2SuvzffaTffhOZ1zh1FE36xAGYzNiGuAI6OaxLiI18ms6HVDpPnvr3N6AbmPEd9FTFddmRbzP5QfwYg2QsKPzg/s400/P3060001.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>Now, I don't normally decorate with stuffed animals but this one is very special to me and it will be out every Easter no matter what. This bunny was given to me by my husband our first Easter when we were dating 11 years ago. On my sister's high school graduation day (we were actually getting ready for the graduation) our house caught on fire. We lost just about everything, my mom and I grabbed my sister's cap and gown, the dog, and backed the car away from the house and that was all we had gotten out at the time of the fire. We pulled ourselves together and knew there was nothing to do at the time and went to my sister's graduation. Well, there were a few things that we were able to save the next day going back to the house and my mom got my bunny out and had it cleaned by a company that cleans items that have been in a fire and gave it to me. So that is why this bunny will always be special to me. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311691832937995186" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghe-nIgzKg7weG_N-Y6lVlqb6ixhIbfrL31ZMhZrvJ7bgQ5-OmZEjoRdDz-ZsCDWU06Rsa0BwMs_e5Ub1fPCzqtZlArK01w0nDlykKd_K9uxzUHG7sKPrXW5cna0hL9he02JxYl4nARn8/s400/P3060002.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>I also made this image to put in this frame for Easter. It normally has a picture in it but I made this and changed it out for the holiday. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311686094323811714" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnjLUKjDfRd72l3G70EaFdro3sBwIYo_kQWWvstPalO0EZ66prcko4xSx-9VhyrfajbgRt75JrJ9fnpsMofdGiAG1sHABk3Zg1Jn8LiHEuwwm3pvDpQOKAiZK7FXDesN1aAc-u8KUUwxo/s400/P3060005.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>This is an up close picture of the spring table runner I put out on the sofa table. This was a gift from my mom when she went to Germany last summer to visit my family. It is so pretty and just says "Spring is here" to me. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311686099744849026" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIbAjVD8TVMj257YPjH7n6d9a4uG9fnRlxonvJSBw4QQtNploCcD24Qcmt4wbadgpqKahssctqPanLAZ_phdqDC2QB5hg_Sk9yyTiIkYbnwE4H0iW6bdqMLQo8W50mDuuL849Nfmo3hKk/s400/P3060011.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>This is the last of my Easter decorations. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311691239395503474" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxfV-jsD3ah19Tg3L6-FJu8CQSH9brO1D_6DuVaUjU6ecjMa47Om-PWvuXJMJPd8kHXA3xh1VaB_aA8PbaYc10ycGKWhc42VbdF53S1JEmrG2rpeMVadMGUDVjHoo0x5_l4-zX34kAfqQ/s400/P3060010.JPG" border="0" /></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-71491585319605283312009-03-09T07:05:00.004-05:002009-03-09T07:38:59.079-05:00What a wonderful weekend...<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>I had an absolutely fabulous weekend!!! We took off Friday and went riding on our motorcycle. It was the most perfect day to ride. Warm enough to wear short sleeves but cool enough not to be sweating. We rode out to War Eagle Mill. It is an operating mill that has been there since the 1800's. It is also the location of the bi-annual craft show. There is one in May and then the huge one in October. This is a picture of the mill:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311161289498903298" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFeWpvq4iEKmv3cfYJOWhZGO6ORO0Nh1IDk4yi9-CD0qlLCribh7_fscc6OyDemdJEFt7uYNYMyVitcY9V7LPISks5CXWIxaSWLb-GjQ8RXTmllENWslVbSlSImuKIF_OXTeOxYFy6IZM/s400/P3060019.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>This is inside and is a pic of the actual working grinder:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311161297794319970" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrh6nJ14vpG2DGfaGIu9ncUNjy_2zaZhhsIdOptXY6vY81qA7kEJA-y-UNSOxXhCRIDzMSCh4rr1Px7N5NXcLb-M-kjWBTFi-pNqEljq1096WkQ44Gbgw-1gxZPFRBrMM6rFiNsjOexSQ/s400/P3060025.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>Here is just a tiny sampling of what they grind and sell there. I washed all the curtains in the house and scrubbed the bathroom. We actually took the shower doors apart and I scrubbed them and scrubbed the shower where they were. We are going to caulk them. They never were caulked by the builder and water gets underneath and gets yucky all the time. I also put out Easter decor after church and I will share pics of that tomorrow. </div><div><br /> </div><div>Today is weigh in day. Drum roll please...I lost another two pounds for a total of 15 pounds. I got another star on my Weight Watchers Chart and if I lose two pounds this week I should be at my 10% goal!! </div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-66633029120899990212009-03-05T07:52:00.006-06:002009-03-05T08:29:39.304-06:00Tile instructionsThe first part of this post is for <a href="http://typicaldaytoday.blogspot.com/">Lisa</a>. She was wondering how I made the spring tile. Well it just so happens that I was going to make coasters last night so it worked out perfect for me to be able to take pictures of how I did it. It is really simple if you have the supplies. Here are the supplies:<br /><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309704997334226258" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAtpGEpMHskDFOAo7H21kH7eht7Cd5B7xuoBEelnhCSv-yL6OHL5TiV60vl2QIttzjMzpUy4nDMe_VYZttrNZaf4OGxBWDR4ZlCtD6_9AO3Gm2w7PnMAcgwDtGU5kI2gfbBc5pr-92wrM/s400/P3040001.JPG" border="0" />You will need a stone tile (I got mine for 37 cents at Lowes), a stamp, a watermark stamp pad (I use versamark), embossing powder, a heat gun, pearl ex pigments, and fillable paint brush filled with liquid floor wax (I got mine from <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/us/enu/">Stampin Up</a>).<br /><br /><div>First you stamp your image on the tile with the versamark stamp pad.</div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309705001023474066" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV2iz7JETIev-Ldz8T-778TfUQSGsnA0ye1Z4EHLoHRJvm6AsPaAxoZmsEPZze7NmHZ9s6keaam_fXdu-Mct3mtP8KwGkv2HHMfLhJEk-SjuvqaFQvyO8ms8lC6MbTzSBlGlvctznsajU/s400/P3040003.JPG" border="0" /></div></div></div></div></div></div><br /><p>Then you sprinkle your embossing powder on the tile,<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309705007265748002" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7c450DNen34-9Q2DTdXaK-V7i6-mbZOmZq6NjwD3-Or5ocnqGInStGtSsu1-30zlKtakzByTjx0Jp5B_yY4Mhq5mMqiqcGtVgxkJzkYrHWUuUVG8_fJbM5R-bnO5UaIg_-Y-RwOv93aU/s400/P3040004.JPG" border="0" /></p><br /><p>Here is what the image will look like before heating it:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309705016887202258" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0JJXUJb9Jd2eMK7eKFNpr0d6bDb28cY0lQsQN5ZcJ6t2oRU7QrFQ-5r4du9EY_3Ga_j5RxejCPKmFRasxmUdXEftb8_p1_c785mWRNhxBcTk7ER5psxxsK561L9-w-QAQFBqgxgX4oeo/s400/P3040006.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309705013333620690" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYUcRqLqHNjVq9PvK2IbOEDinYOxVoU9MeWq6w0ij0yXvDJxfVGnYwoa0Akjb0R4qL2TFnnAjWY8MZlMynpkmXUIuu6NXYfnuYnWpJamptEnUYBL0FkK_FP-TOsFcUWfq-YQ85XQ5Pbr8/s400/P3040005.JPG" border="0" />Then you use the heat gun to heat the image until the embossing powder "melts":<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309708226627046978" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEif_zvFXh5NR7QJuisbd9HJiU5F8ILScbKl7Xb35oZ7oqDYkWHe_z8hafe7abciFlDwLeFdcZwqUviDgiUhkf26c_hFSYbRcMh0XxTNvnUy-tsmRMZnT27itbejvmqFgwPXJof1EcLtI-I/s400/P3040008.JPG" border="0" /></p><br /><p></p><br /><p>Here is what it looks like after the image has been heated.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309708234134616450" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUP3CpZJwN0w-k19HU_HdjkJ0my_s9dLj2Gyd4i-FIk7n-6V1DcYtkzUgHtaNlx_SnddBIWuEKS7IubwCf4hr3u1bBBBeGYryqUw_AeNq7GW8hgUjmUHQ7u6hw9Wi2tw-7yOLckS1nUdo/s400/P3040009.JPG" border="0" /></p><br /><p></p><br /><p>Next you dip your paint brush into the color of pearl ex you want to apply and paint the image:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309708235972509202" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVJy8IPaNwkgyKufmxPsZOyCMZiKFpLsl4P-ISdLPKVTgSwnBwyk0ZcQOxEtDYa6P62ATWYtOwquZCtn_hkJq0Id9u1Tkdoh5OI_aFuldv2qH_3ua-zNlcgvvII4QOnNgrEKdolNbKVpk/s400/P3040015.JPG" border="0" /></p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309708240634881282" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfoqTYn85SJwSWzpk0SgiSagjP8ROKZvvrmy8W9fVk_GskAMJHB_82V6MyrjxSxsUeWVEaoDz4__HWMvgM73V0Q3IwLDhIscZB5_zt8-ZW9gbu92_8ZAOY2Vz8DEjJ2u50hnJTpWX2lyY/s400/P3040017.JPG" border="0" /><br /><p></p><br /><p>That is all there is to it. I would have to say that it is my favorite time of year. After the cold winter months getting to see everything turn green and the beautiful flowers come out again and the air turn warm is the best feeling. Last night I made this spring tile to put on a shelf in the living room. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309322748354529906" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoWMT5yS7fUhGU9KIygm0PL2csRMOlYA4Eu3Io9ws4x_Ob-aYqlQ8bVuERCUocc5IkBPnkr5Z_cMQa6AphvGBP7WE_3KJ79U_lc4RhDC-WI9K22zvzlsfxLxhECvbhHHWfyQuPfK-2YMU/s400/P3030025.JPG" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309322749592051602" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLgNasAHgyspZh4cRLhf-A05fAPRzPHqWDCDr8ENbeGWhAaqCXPE7P4cYZ_IdyLF-iu_qr5s0m8X9nq3_2UbTtfGvNjKck781VXfeVx5OE7QMQtd7G83zcA4pETEJWbbel5F_Rfttav1E/s400/P3030027.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br />Everything is going great so far this week on my WW plan. I haven't even used any weekly allowance points. Tonight we are having a friend over for dinner so my only challenge will be dessert.melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-74680799084272143742009-03-03T11:42:00.003-06:002009-03-03T11:58:26.924-06:00Spring arrangement<div>Yesterday was a great day for me as far as mail goes. Mixed in with the regular daily bills and junk mail I also received my shirt I ordered from <a href="http://littlebellabean.blogspot.com/">Megan</a> for my niece. It is darling. Thank you Megan!!!!! </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Also, <a href="http://ourcreativelife.blogspot.com/">Darlene</a>, told us last week in her blog about Everyday Minerals and the free sample you could get. I got that in the mail yesterday too. I am trying them today and so far they are passing my inspection! :) Thank you for posting that Darlene.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Last night I decided to try making a flower arrangement. I still don't know how I feel about the outcome but I will share it anyway. I wanted a spring time arrangement that could go on our coffee table throughout spring. So bravely I am sharing a pic:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309021310929391394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9fwongs9uEKBiEx6-xZpLIJPuUH4YckURdcBwFGN7Tn4igzZmcUTdxhEKgg_3I7UKWUoxOhlX1WtYs9ZlY_v-e1btzJ0QA32XKmAMwSmmeW3EcJy4_grf34zV5NuOosDzfyJLi883n_8/s400/P3030006.JPG" border="0" /></div><br /><p>Tonight I plan to work on some Easter stuff. </p><p>So far this week everything is going good on my WW plan. Yesterday was hard for the opposite reason than what it is usually hard for. I have been feeling bad lately and yesterday I had no appetite really so I had to force myself to eat all my points. That usually NEVER happens. </p>melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-10124254542505611712009-03-02T08:08:00.004-06:002009-03-02T08:30:38.303-06:00Weigh-in and weekend update<div><div>Weigh-in day: I lost 2 more pounds. We see them in our future, just not right now. My sis is so funny 'cause she will occasionally ask me if we are <em><strong>ever</strong> </em>going to have children because she wants to be an aunt and then sometimes she will say if not she guesses she is okay with that 'cause I spoil my niece so much. In the meantime, we do have our dog. She can be funny sometimes. She hates flies (who can blame her). Well, yesterday we had a fantastically beautiful day here and as soon as I got home I opened the windows and the back door for a while to get some fresh air in here. And would you believe we already have flies!!!!!! I hate them and in the summer they are terrible here. I heard Ginger in our room making all kinds of noise and knew right away that she was after a fly. I have never taken pictures of her doing this before but she is so funny and relentless when it comes to catching one of these that I snapped a few yesterday. In this first picture she is chasing it in the window and scratching my costume blinds, uh, hello I don't think so...<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5307207139830625970" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5k8Hjd8DERv_WG5jjDoEafkb5umtjiNow2CeobSbgyY4Lg_52WlIKNRCvHHYcKtLO6WmfAJ9x0N_camTbfH9tSQYVq9O0yVCZnBEHytPRwFEslyk0mUsrGFmJd-Jw92WTHDTp4B33524/s400/P2250002.JPG" border="0" /></div></div></div></div></div></div><p>so I pulled the blinds up. I got to workout outside. Ryan and Ginger ran and I rode the bike for 3 miles. You could tell how great a mood everyone was in because of the warm, sunny day; there were a ton of people out walking and riding bikes and tons of houses had their windows open and I even smelled bbq a couple of times. AAHHH...spring is just around the corner!!!!!melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-68660113644385130762009-02-25T07:26:00.003-06:002009-02-25T07:37:58.069-06:00What to do with scrap...While browsing online one day I saw the cutest idea for storing scrap ribbon. It was quite a while ago that I saw this idea and it has been on my mind constantly to do this. When we went to the flea markets Saturday I kept my eyes peeled for a wire dress form and didn't find one. I went browsing at Hobby Lobby yesterday on my lunch hours and I found her for half off (minus the ribbon belt)...<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306727561967245490" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHFP8h2shZ1Dh46iPyM1-OCENqDzHlksMABtyD2kVtY5ffQ1fZ1KuP-IJsgsbSWyfZvKD8zFKZpT9wWKZQLp4AmFnMQgiBhR1Dn05GfSkXcVt8V9_THHuy9jq1XgmjE5DM8rvLdPfunwk/s400/P2240011.JPG" border="0" /> <div><div></div><div></div><div>Well, the idea is to make her my scrap ribbon holder and it would in turn look like she is wearing a skirt. I think she looks great and how great to have my scrap ribbon out in the open so I can see it and use it. It was stored in a bin, and you know the saying out of sight out of mind...<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306727565276475378" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzFP1SWvlkOQNvOTdXUPEvr8afi_NKKo5ohLklxt1Xh_WvGw9mCnINwLKeXk4M7t3QC62AXsjxLlCD1Q6K6IxBlxXLaANgWWdIdC4H_7k7H88HBHrQQ9n9AGPEB_AJD3ktTYkLIsZB30Y/s400/P2240015.JPG" border="0" /></div></div>melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-52874712466238200362009-02-24T08:19:00.003-06:002009-02-24T08:38:31.788-06:00my loot from SSD<div><div><div>I went to my favorite home decor/scrapbook store yesterday after work, <a href="http://shopssd.com/">SSD</a>. OH MY GOSH their Easter decor was gorgeous!!!!!!! If only I could afford one of everything from that store. They also had a new birthday table set up and it looked so fun, it made me want to sit and have some cake. They also had some new items in their Razorback section that would be so great to have at our tailgate. They also had...okay, okay, I will stop myself. My sole purpose was to go in there and look for a crown stamp so that my sister and I could make the bday invitations for my niece this weekend while I am visiting. I found one and a few other things...some great rub-ons, some candles on clearance for 1.50 (the scent is walk on the beach), and some precut diecuts.</div><div>See:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306372076623484322" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEzxWGPuTOsaYBPEzSjNBxdA1pZgqtqomIkgVsBDJjxRQZpivFiHTd7fr3h8jHGd3GnddXcH8h6E85CFhFUfarETqNGvTXlBUu2fI6V1xfBzI1ZeTFAkGu9VLl4tCk3OKsweJ0gCODGZI/s400/P2230004.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div></div><div>I made a card last night with the diecut that says "a father's love" and a rub-on. It was my mother-in-laws birthday on Saturday and her mom and aunt and my sister-in-law all came here for her birthday for the weekend. They wanted to go to some flea markets and antique malls Saturday so Ryan (my hubby) and I took them around to several flea markets. I was so tired by the time we were finished, I am not a big shopper. I do enjoy going to flea markets but one or two a day is good for me. However, I did find some books for under my cross on one of the nightstands, and better yet, the books are PURPLE. Here is the before:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305997794078554386" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitXampWGqBPO20LSw7orkCKhq2irMV33lAaLWnLb2QvGC6tUKQw8PX0xuqOql3PcpoV2EfG7ryG-_lap1lum3msUyoTT6Q8475LFa-GVm-qa_G-DYRz-h5ewfVoW0O2mxIJ_lThZuiMzc/s400/P2190004.JPG" border="0" /> <div><div></div><div></div><div>And the after:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305997799693534002" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOHGfmrX_jkfWDFBYr9vGxvIWRkIy5p1wbh8YpzVY_oRLiDL0e4iq_e2kJ6gea_fygBSErvLOCyJ4E0mFnePzoajomQlP75shqieqzeVDDsxRwFbNike26Y6pA9MDvOJsiKCNsV6BT1P0/s400/P2230009.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div></div><div>I think it really helped (thanks for the support of the idea <a href="http://typicaldaytoday.blogspot.com/">Lisa</a>). </div><div> </div><div>Weight loss update: I lost one pound this week. I have to be honest too. I cannot post my successes without posting my failures too. I could have done so much better this week! I went over my daily points value and weekly allowance two times this week! I told you the hormones that visit us females were here...I had a chocolate attack on Thursday (first time to go over) and then on Saturday when we were out shopping these people wanted to eat out three times!!! THREE TIMES, do you know how hard that is to do when you are trying to stick to a plan (so Saturday was the second time). I knew we were eating out for lunch so I planned for that and looked up online the meal and the points value. I also knew what was "planned" for dinner and I planned for that and all would have been good. So lunch I did good and stuck to what I had planned. Well, after shopping they were hungry and wanted a "snack" and a beer. I did good there too and didn't eat anything and had half a glass of wine and gave the rest away. Then instead of going back home and having what was planned for dinner they decided to eat out for dinner. Sigh...I did make a good choice and had six grilled chicken strips and that was it. Although, I did make good choices on the food I did eat I still went over in points. This weekend we are going to see my family so I will be planning ahead and saving my weekly allowance for this weekend. </div></div>melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-29740962960658293372009-02-19T13:21:00.003-06:002009-02-19T14:00:29.877-06:00Urns...not just for the garden!<div><div><div><div>I saw this slide show on BHG.com about unique uses for urns. I loved some of the ideas...so, I stole some of them. I put this urn in the living room next to the couch. It has come in so handy to store the remotes and magazines. When the new issues of the magazines come, I put the old issues in the recycle to make sure the urn stays clean and tidy.</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304593922074720818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiRuHfkgCNQwe9_tjTFOwF-bcasktIbAMVWguCdNb7MS26cihwYo1WVjKfqAHNE3hHflxwoia7eSuWYqkwHCoUD8pCWd7j6V6dfMDN3ktId-4A5yxcG7lQqXyu1V0kYFUJ3zlnvV7Zyds/s400/P2190002.JPG" border="0" /> <div></div><div></div><div></div><div>These other two urns I turned into bedside tables. I got them on clearance at Hobby Lobby for 25 dollars a piece and I had the round glass at home already. They were black when I bought them and of course my awesome hubby spray painted them white for me. I know that the lamp on this first table is in desperate need of some pizazz. I am in the process of looking for some ribbon to decorate the shade but I just can't find the right color (honestly, I haven't been looking that hard, only when I think about it).<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304593938018234018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPNBTYt-nhfwT4bQmTrwaOTuhjeqgdkPEYcfxkrKatvI0Gy_ce0w7G0srpqhlAZwDaW1GfMAl6kxCppzVc8VUJTWBfDw1SITqAOsUEXxsg3fMPjHxAwYFy-wtHjMVE8UYN0xgdcCJKm3k/s400/P2190003.JPG" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>The one thing I want to change on this other table is to add something under the cross to give it some height, maybe some old looking books?? <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304593950236585170" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZHoqSdIkXE9W2_Pbt7bdv5XMBf2F03LUbTKdvZ8UKgzdiBV4Qbh2ZHxrZiXKlCaFhTsQkxdOiJ7CzihRWUZes89n469EGg0nT80H12eZNpzczU5W3NVvYbj8PjA0HbYlZ0FINJ32KtlM/s400/P2190004.JPG" border="0" /></div></div></div></div><br /><p>This is a picture of how they look next to the bed. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304593974912346162" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDq3kMIYpi_SVsYOfa8ZFKJkidupMEdlmt1qOC5iMFV2GaUx4MS9ihK8AsH8GFVxxZolqypfUtt61K2ltg36AXkdXF57tT3oYg4_gqExyS5g0JJEWE65kFNA8qcld5p_jfLXveldLQYno/s400/P2190005.JPG" border="0" /></p><p>I haven't broke the news to my hubby yet that I am on the look out for new bedding for our room. After doing the guest room and the fresh clean look of it, I really want to get new bedding for our room now. I just have to find stuff to match the wall color. It is a really light purple, not too girly. Can you believe that my hubby let me paint our room PURPLE???? I told you he was awesome. Yet again this paint was "free". My dad painted this building (I can't remember what type of business it was) and he had a 5 gallon bucket of this paint left over and he saved it for me to see if I liked it, well of course I did, it <em>is</em> a shade of purple (one of my two favorite colors)!! So, while my sister and I went on a overnight scrapbook convention my dad snuck up and when I got home my hubby and dad had the whole room painted and put back together again!! It was FANTASTIC!</p><p>I took the afternoon off work today, every once in a while it is nice to do that. I am lucky I have a job that allows me the freedom to do it. I went to Yankee Candle today and the sales lady was super. She told me about this thing called layering (maybe I am the only one that hasn't heard about it), where you light two different candles at the same time and they layer to make a different smell. Well, she put a small lid from vanilla cupcake frosting into a large lid of black cherry and had me smell it...YUMMY!! It was so neat and I never even thought of that. I am not big on the smell of vanilla but the two combined was great. It smelled like a fresh baked cherry cupcake. I was in there trying all kinds of smells together. Another good one that I put together was Coconut Bay and Lime. I will get that this summer. I ended up getting the vanilla and cherry and three other fresher, cleaner scents (that is what I tend to get). </p><p>Weight Watcher update: Things are going well this week. I am hungrier this week than I have been the last few weeks (could have to do with hormones). I tried a new WW recipe last night, spicy bbq meatballs. It was good. Well, I actually only had a bite of one because I am not a big meat eater, but the bite was good. My hubby really liked them. </p><p>I am off to clean up and light my new candles, we have company spending the night tonight.</p>melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758165681649291365noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7438500044378203341.post-32173005295613785012009-02-18T07:43:00.003-06:002009-02-18T07:58:00.919-06:00RewardJust a quick post before I head out of the door to go to work. My hubby installed my handles on my cabinets in my laundry room (my first 10 pounds lost reward). I have to say that I LOVE the way they look and I LOVE the color of the laundry room. The last time we were visiting my mom and dad I went through all my dad's paint and took home the gallons that I like. I had no intention of painting anything at that moment but I liked them and hey you never know. Well, the color of the laundry room was one of the gallons I <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">brought</span> home. My dad came up to visit and he did some touch up painting for me where my hubby and I had painted in the house (my dad is a professional painter) well since he can cut in by the ceiling and trim without even taping it up I asked him if he would cut in the laundry room for me and next thing you know he and my hubby had it all painted for me!!!! What great guys I have in my life. My mom said I don't know why you want the laundry room painted, it is just the laundry room and then she saw it and said now I know why it looks great. Anyway, the design of the handles match the kitchen handles but the color is different. The kitchen is brushed nickle to match the faucet. I thought the black with copper would look great with the wall color. However, I am being gutsy and posting pics just because I am excited that I cleaned them out and they are all organized. Sunday, I cleaned out the spice cabinet. This pic is the before:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303756997985607858" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirjG3HrHov0TOXZ42LBbFQ_PlGVDkS6V2ub5DNLMTpD5-RNJQ49luVEX9tLQ1awwdzt3cXWOZSWQpTdVwdw-08NIwZ8KXj5sljGQnulkJ7xbvQKoyVSavdSQIEiliYGbKYwe0RF0s2XOM/s320/P2150020.JPG" border="0" /> <div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p>And here is the after:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303757001501070338" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWbaPUDqWoLlSMohVfM6aLzlyMEFuUKy87KKaHYehbkQ9Dl_0POnOTdYWhyphenhyphen-NJn7Zl2-0TUiZpB6hodYGycp2FCN4o_BlLGAbGBEkNEKmVGQO5f1S9MVteiQainDa_xUWwnWPC-N53ovY/s320/P2150023.JPG" border="0" />In the before pic the paper on the door lists all my spices and the expiration date. I am going to put the list back up but want to put it on pretty scrapbook paper instead. </p><p>The pictures below are of what I have on the top of my cabinets. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303757019462823714" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhujyOxRTrsUz5mo4gB_4nEE6lo9tQsqRaK5dN_lsBZ0OjFdbiyu7IGNLrND01h9i4IpJWHroW772fvjAV-wTGc5rUWD0ZV3RiFhic7hceK4mykkn2OvD-vLq5habToXOy42M1gmr0LJ7c/s320/P2150026.JPG" border="0" /></p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303757010644221666" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBqoej5H4E-TxPaHgIIAN-ULozxlHbI13autJvePpZeVkp2TGMxJmIWFdAXX_cveDb7gc1KaWMcdqTKkNvNTdwFR4UZ9S9OHNFE3ielVpBHR5VB3Zb-rMgWLwxG1w7nWiUXTdr8k4j14M/s320/P2150025.JPG" border="0" /></p>I had to share some detailed pictures of the glasses that are displayed. My hubby surprised me with tickets to the Razorback vs Kentucky Wildcats basketball game. I know that doesn't sound romantic but I wanted to go so bad. I love when Kentucky plays the Hogs, I leave the game happy no matter who wins. I am a huge Hog fan. I have lived in Ar for most of my life. But I am also a Kentucky fan. I was born in Lexington, Ky and have a ton of family there. I had this shirt made that I wear to any Hog/Wildcat game that says Kentucky born, Arkansas raised. Saturday, my hubby didn't even get upset when I clapped for Kentucky (Kentucky won). They have an amazing player on the team, Jodi Meeks. He scored 48 points on Saturday!! Here is a pic of him shooting (and yes he made it).<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303761171455706818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2bMcmcfY2c4KD-92lZ0kw1xrx56-C450b3rtRmREWElD367D4Fx9sg00OoA-auQrLk768Bw-SmDUI_iK7FVJp-wLxyHZAEYSE4eWnYwwKp1uQN1a3PETM2mkNLlLzPdlmObJuyON_aXE/s320/P2140013.JPG" border="0" /></p><p>That night I cooked a yummy dinner and the chocolate fondue was so good!</p><p> </p><p><span style="color:#660000;">Weight Loss Update:</span> Yesterday was weigh in. I lost two more pounds!!!! That is a total of 10 and put me at getting my first 10 pound reward. I went to Lowe's yesterday and got the handles for the cabinet doors for the laundry room and my hubby is going to put them on for me tonight. I will share pics soon.
